Conroe Hosts Oilman 70.3 Triathlon

Road and triathlon bikers are a common sight along FM 2854 leading to and from Fairwater community. These exercise and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the open roads and rolling hills of Montgomery County. This past weekend, several of these bikers were able to participate in the 17th annual Oilman 70.3 triathlon.
This long course event was held at the Margaritaville Lake Resort and consisted of a 1.2 mile swim in Lake Conroe, a 56 mile bike in scenic Montgomery County, and a 13.1 mile run on the grounds of the newly opened Margaritaville Lake Resort at Lake Conroe.
With so many events being cancelled in 2020, participants had a renewed appreciation for their ability to race and be a part of the triathlon community in Conroe. The race was limited to 900 participants and event organizers had guidelines in place for social distancing.
It was beautiful day in Conroe with perfect temperatures for both racing, spectating and volunteering. What a positive contribution to the community!
