Fairwater hosted a National Night Out for residents on Tuesday, October 5 from 5 to 7 pm. The Montgomery County Fire Department, as well as the Montgomery County Sherriff's Department, attended the event and spent time getting to know the community residents who attended. Kids got the chance to climb inside the fire truck and sherriff's cruiser, pull the truck horn and cruiser siren, and learn about the people who keep their community safe. The community HOA manager with Vision Communities Management was also on-site to greet and meet residents.

Residents also got a chance to meet each other, enjoy some ice cream from the SweetRide! Food Truck and register to win one of five $50 Amazon gift cards. Congrats to the winners: Michelle Duoto, Jason Chretien, Colton Perales, Stacy Darby, and Everett Lutel.

National Night Out was introduced in 1984. It is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings. National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities.

The event was put on by Forestar, the community development company.
