Millions in Pandemic Relief Given to Conroe, Montgomery, and Willis ISDs
September 03, 2021
The federal government is in the process of providing millions of dollars in relief and support to school districts throughout the city of Houston, in an effort to alleviate the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
Amongst those districts are Conroe, Montgomery, and Willis ISD. These school districts are eligible for millions of dollars in ESSER funding to support their schools:
- Conroe ISD: $100.3 million
- Montgomery ISD: $2.9 million
- Willis ISD: 14.84 million
Districts generally have quite a bit of flexibility as to where and how they allocate their funds. However, they also must follow certain guidelines. District officials have agreed that ESSER funds are a much-needed boost to their districts during this time. Although, the future of enrollment in schools makes budget planning difficult to predict for the upcoming school year, and the foreseeable future.
The federal government created the three-part Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding (ESSER) to help provide relief and support for school districts impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
