Montgomery ISD earns 'A' accountability rating for 2021-2022 school year!
August 19, 2022
Montgomery ISD released the following information:
Montgomery ISD has earned an ‘A’ accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the 2021-2022 school year. MISD student test scores indicate improvements in every area measured for academic performance under the state accountability system. 70% of MISD schools earned an ‘A’, and no school received less than a ‘B’ under the accountability ratings. Additionally, MISD campuses received 23 Distinction Designations, which represent academic achievement in the top 25 percent of similar campuses across the state.
“Today’s announcement by TEA revealed that students in Montgomery ISD outperformed the state average – by a wide margin - in every category measured in state assessments,” Trustee Linda Porten said. “While test results are not the only indicator of student success, it is a positive indicator on our journey to being the Premier School District in the state of Texas.” The official 2021-22 TEA Accountability Ratings can be viewed at www.txschools.gov.
“As a district, we are pleased that our test scores reflect growth in student learning,” Montgomery ISD Superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison said. “We are grateful for the combined efforts of our outstanding teachers and supportive families for their commitment to student success.”
Morrison attributed the district’s consistent improvement and quick return to traditional in-person learning in 2020 to avoiding the “COVID slide” that impacted schools across the state and nation as a result of the pandemic.
“In fall 2020, we emphasized having students return to in-person instruction as quickly as possible, which allowed them to stay on track, minimizing the impacts of COVID-related disruptions to their learning environments,” he said. “This is a true testament to an outstanding collective effort from students, our amazing teachers, and supportive families.”
The Texas Accountability System evaluates the academic performance of Texas public schools as measured through standardized assessments such as STAAR and is just one measure of how students are learning and succeeding in Montgomery ISD.
“Pathway to Premier,” the district’s strategic plan, tasks MISD with providing a challenging curriculum, assessing individual student achievement, and supporting efforts to ensure excellent academic performance.
“The district’s strategic plan outlines specific performance objectives in the areas of student growth, closing performance gaps, and college, career and military readiness,” Porten said. “We are proud of the hard work put forth by our MISD teachers, students and families to meet our goals and are pleased to have these efforts acknowledged by TEA.”
Congratulations to MISD! We look forward to another successful year!!
